As part of the approved Erasmus+ mobility program 2025‑1‑CZ01‑KA122‑VET‑000320476, students from Střední průmyslová škola stavební in Lipník nad Bečvou, Czech Republic, participated in a two‑week educational experience in Thessaloniki, coordinated by Ipodomi.
Internship Experience
Their internship took place in active construction sites around Thessaloniki, offering them a realistic view of how the construction industry functions in Greece. They engaged directly in works related to thermal insulation, applying materials and understanding the differences in technique and regulation compared to their home country. They also worked on plastering, learning how to prepare and treat surfaces with precision and care. Alongside hands-on work, they were introduced to design and planning procedures, gaining a broader understanding of how a project is structured from concept to implementation. The guidance from professionals on-site and the interaction with local teams allowed them to reflect, ask questions, and evolve their skills in a dynamic and international environment. This experience strengthened their confidence, adaptability, and practical knowledge, preparing them more effectively for their future careers.
Cultural Visits and Exploration
The program also included visits to major landmarks of Thessaloniki, such as the White Tower, Arch of Galerius (Kamara), Rotunda, Church of Saint Demetrios, Hagia Sophia, and the Serbian Military Cemetery. These excursions offered the students a rich cultural experience and insight into the city’s multicultural past.
On Saturday 04/10/2025, the group enjoyed a full-day excursion to the waterfalls of Edessa and a relaxing afternoon at the Pozar Thermal Baths, immersing themselves in the natural beauty of Northern Greece.
These visits were carefully selected to balance learning, reflection, and group bonding, allowing students to explore both the city’s modern life and its timeless spiritual and historical identity.
A Meaningful European Mobility
At the end of the program, all participants received a Certificate of Participation as well as the Europass Mobility Document, officially recognizing the skills and competencies they gained in Greece.
This successful cooperation between Ipodomi and Střední průmyslová škola stavební highlighted the impact of well-structured vocational mobility programs. Through hands-on experience and intercultural exchange, the project demonstrated how international collaboration can enrich professional education and support young people in becoming more skilled, confident, and globally aware.
